The essence of the adventure playground is ‘free play’ where young people choose what they wish to do. The key to successful play schemes therefore is the provision of an extensive range of activities to provide choice and cover both the 16 established play types and the wide range of interests of our children. At the Triangle we create a playful and supportive environment through our large play structures, many sports, traditional and homemade board games, construction and building projects, fantasy play, a multitude of 'junk' loose parts/objects for den building and sculptural play, group games, arts & crafts, Nature Club gardening, cookery, DJ & MC workshops, photographic & video workshops. All delivered by a dedicated play worker team with over 20 years combined experience at Triangle.
swings & structures
Forever a favourite at Triangle are our large swings and structures. Including tyre, tango and platform swings not forgetting to mention our zipwire, giant trampoline and the tree house tower & slide.
tools & building
Building whole huts and more our young people love to use tools. The Triangle play workers are on hand to guide and ensure safety rules are followed as many get their first chance to use hammers, saws and spades. Some build toy swords, others help the upkeep of Triangle itself, re-enforcing their rightful sense of ownership. Everyone enjoys destructive play such as breaking down wood for our fire pit.
free play
Home to wild overgrown nooks the Triangle offers endless imaginary play. Key to developing a sense of adventure and risk taking in a safe environment. Climbing trees and building dens or role playing a cafe and cooking up mud pies, we encourage all to play with freedom.
trips & opportunities
Triangle provides free trips and special opportunities for the young people. Our annual Summer beach trip, horse riding at Ebony Horse Club, snowboarding at Snow Camp and countryside camping in Camp Build to name a few.
sports & group games
A multitude of team games take place at Triangle. Our ethos heavily promotes teamwork at Triangle and many friendships are formed this way. Everything from football to chase games like Family IT is offered and encouraged, irrespective of age or gender. Triangle is a proud founder member of the local adventure playground football league.
arts & crafts
It may be small but the Triangle hut fits in a lot of activity. One part hosts table tennis and pool competitions, in another board games abound whilst the arts and crafts fill the room. The young people show their flair and talent for visual creativity and physical dexterity producing a huge range of artworks, craft skills and models. Only one rule…Pick up your Hama Beads!
nature club
Watering our trees, growing our allotment and discovering wildlife, it never stops for our hardest working crew! Our popular Nature Club runs exciting trips and environmental projects all year, building our understanding and love for the outdoors. Take a closer look at this special project here.
music & photography
A hot bed of musical and creative talent Triangle’s regular sessions gives space for our MCs & DJs to practice their skills. Our photography workshops led to a special exhibition and book created by our young photographers. Combining their talents our young people have worked with our play workers to shoot their own music videos.
active together
Expanding Triangle activities to the whole family our Active Together team are bringing under5s yoga, go karting trips, parents & kids football sessions and more. Check out this exciting project, in collaboration with our friends Oasis Play.
